Research Focus:
Our research program focuses on elucidating how intestinal lipid metabolism modulates systemic energy balance and glycemic control. Using genetically engineered mice, we are exploring cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying the physiological functions of the intestine and the roles of the gut microbiome in health and disease. Our team has established a variety of research tools and techniques, including state-of-the-art instrumentation for the comprehensive characterization of systemic metabolic processes in conventionally raised and germ-free/gnotobiotic rodents. Our group provides excellent training opportunities for trainees interested in studying the systemic effects of cellular metabolism in response to genetic factors and environmental exposures, especially dietary interventions.
