Research Focus

Dr. Ehrenthal’s research uses a life course framework to investigate the determinants of health outcomes and health disparities of populations. She focuses on three intersecting areas of women’s and children’s health: perinatal outcomes, women’s cardiovascular disease, and child health.

The goal of her work is to expand the evidence-base needed to guide clinical and public health recommendations and policies relevant to reproductive age women and their children. She studies health care delivery after pregnancy complications and investigates mechanistic pathways linking adverse pregnancy complications to women’s later cardiovascular disease. In addition, she has developed novel methods to use data from electronic medical records, linked to other sources, to study health care delivery and health outcomes of women and children.
